Glen and Rachael held their amazing ‘Pomafest’ wedding celebrations in our Barn this weekend. Each of their tables were named after different stages at Leeds festival to tie in their love of music and their three-tier chocolate and victoria sponge cake was decorated in a festival theme; the music theme was particularly fitting as Glen proposed to Rachael on their five-year anniversary as their favourite band Enter Shikari came on stage at the Manchester Academy!
For their wedding at St Peter’s Church in Bottesford, Glen was accompanied by best man Paul and ushers Robert and Matthew. The men all wore navy blue suits and grey waistcoats. The bride’s sister Abigail and friends Emily and Sophie were her beautiful bridesmaids in dusky pink strapless dresses with diamante belts: they looked perfect alongside Rachael’s A-line dress with a sweetheart neckline and diamante belt. Her stunning lace bodice faded into a full tulle skirt with a train, whilst her veil was a single layer of tulle with scattered diamantes. After their wedding ceremony, Glen and Rachael arrived into our courtyard in a VW campervan, greeted by a celebratory confetti shot. As the guests mingled and enjoyed our extensive grounds waitresses circulated with canapes and sparkling wines, cocktails and bottled beers.
“It is so difficult to pick one part of the day which we enjoyed the most. The whole day ran so smoothly and we enjoyed every minute.” – Glen and Rachael
At 4:15pm the wedding party were directed to their seats in the Barn, which had been styled in a rustic theme with gentle touches of lace and splashes of pink by our sister company Beautiful Venue Decor Limited. The styling, with sequinned table toppers and dusky pink flowers and jars of gypsophilia, fit wonderfully within the festival feel of Glen and Rachael’s wedding. As the guests applauded, the bride and groom were announced into the Barn; as they took their seats the father of the bride made his speech, before the delicious two-course wedding breakfast was served with accompanying wines. Once all plates were empty the groom and his best man made speeches of gratitude and congratulation, before proposing the final toasts and inviting the happy couple’s friends and family to retire to the Garden Room to relax and mingle with cups of tea and coffee.
As Glen and Rachael’s evening guests assembled in the Barn they cut their wedding cake before taking to the dancefloor for their first dance to ‘Adieu’ by Enter Shikari. As the guests joined the happy couple on the dancefloor the band played the first of their two sets. A photo booth set near the dancefloor allowed the wedding party to capture fun memories of the day, as they celebrated with drinks from the bar, large hot sandwiches of barbeque pulled pork and pork and apple sauce and slices of wedding cake.
“We both have very hectic jobs and we wanted a venue who did a lot for us to take the pressure off. We felt at ease and like a weight was lifted when we visited the venue and saw just some of the possible decorations which could be done for us. We also liked the look of the barn with the fairy lights and the drapes.” – Glen and Rachael
Since their wedding day, the happy couple have been on an amazing honeymoon, spending three nights in Dubai and twelve nights in the Maldives: “we got to do lots of sight seeing and shopping in Dubai and had total relaxation in the Maldives so we felt like we had the best of both, we loved both places.” On reflecting on their wedding planning journey, Glen and Rachael offer the following brilliant advice to future couples: “plan things in stages so it doesn’t become overwhelming and also put together pictures of ideas so when it comes to deciding on decoration you have ideas to show the Bride Beautiful team.”
